Blazing Fast File Uploads and Downloads

Tags: , , , , ,

In case you were wondering… The following descriptions of our insanely fast network, DB architecture and CDN partners are offered free of charge to ALL our customers, paid account or not. We believe that supersonic like file transfer speeds are a basic human right, especially in today’s information age; and that’s why we spend a little more to go that extra mile and ensure that your file upload experience is as quick as it is simple.

Ask your file upload provider if they provide this type of infrastructure free of charge? We highly doubt it, in fact we know they don’t! That’s why we’re #1!

  1. Optimized file management architecture, proprietary to Sizable Send.
  2. High availability caching servers to deliver files up to 10x times faster than traditional disk based storage technology.
  3. Files hosted on multiple redundant CDN Providers.
    • All files hosted in SAS 70 Type II Audited data centers
    • Load balanced servers.
    • Media cache accelerators.
  4. Optimized file upload script ensures least possible overhead during transfer.

Our Content Delivery Network (CDN) Providers:

  • Limelight Networks Inc.
  • Akamai Technologies Inc.
  • Rackspace Cloud Files
  • Amazon CloudFront (AWS)

By Hosting Your Files on Sizable Send (Multiple CDN Providers) The Following Benefits Are Obtained:

  • High file availability and fast unlimited download/upload times no matter where you’re located in the world!
  • Download/upload speed is on average 5-15x times faster the average file upload provider - this is accomplished through the world’s fastest content distribution networks.
  • Combine this 5-15x times speed increase with the roughly 10x increase from the high availability caching servers and you are looking at an approximate 25x times increase in speed over our competitors.
  • Fault tolerant fail-over redundancyto ensure up-time stays at about 99.9999%.

What is a CDN?

A content delivery network (CDN) or content distribution network is a system of computers containing copies of files, placed at various points in a network so as to maximize bandwidth for access to the files from end users throughout the network. An end user accesses a copy of the files near to them (geographically), as opposed to all users accessing the same central server, thus avoiding the bottleneck near that server.

The capacity sum of strategically placed servers can be higher than the network backbone capacity. This will result in an impressive increase in the number of concurrent users and simultaneously file downloads/uploads. For example, when there is a 10 Gbit/s network backbone and 100 Gbit/s central server capacity, only 10 Gbit/s can be delivered. But when 10 servers are moved to 10 remote locations, total capacity can be 10×10 Gbit/s or 100 Gbit/s.

CDN nodes(clusters of servers) are usually deployed in multiple geographic locations, often over multiple backbones(networks). These nodes cooperate with each other to satisfy large file requests for content by end users, transparently moving content to optimize the delivery process, i.e. it’s REALLY FAST. Optimization can take the form fast file transfers, high availability of data or increasing global availability of content.

  1. [...] Depending on your email provider it ranges from 5MB – 1GB max. Below is a list of the most recently known size limits for attachments. The list consists of the major email providers: Remember, the entire purpose of SizableSend.com was to allow users a quick and efficient way to send/share large files - especially files larger than the meagar size limits listed below. It is also worth noting that the average user, about 60%, uses Sizable Send to send attachments smaller than the alloted amount of the major Email Providers. Sure they could be sending these smaller files via email but Sizable Send is 1000x times easier, not to mention faster. [...]
