Actually Bill, we loose a ton of money each month keeping the service free. Allowing you to send unlimited files up to 2GB each eats up ungodly amounts of bandwidth - In fact, we use more bandwidth than most Fortune 100 companies. Suffice it to say, it is very expensive keeping SizableSend.com 100% free to use. But don’t worry, we fully intend to stay free no matter how broke it causes us to become.
Furthermore, and you probably won’t believe us, but even on the paid Branded versions of Sizable Send that we offer we STILL lose money on almost every customer - especially those that really actively send large files. Luckily we have a big company sponsor behind us that cares more about the end user experience and keeping things free than they do about profits.
Sure we used a little sarcasm in our response but seriously do you really think a service like ours that…
- Uses as much bandwidth as we do – About 20-45TB per month – This is roughly ¼ of what YouTube does in 1 day http://blog.forret.com/2006/05/youtube-bandwidth-terabytes-per-day/
- That doesn’t charge anything for its file upload services
- That offers unlimited downloads/uploads/bandwidth
…Is it really that hard to believe that somehow we lose money each month? After all, if we were in such a lucrative business why wouldn’t all our competitors be offering the same perks we do, like 2GB attachment size limits and unlimited bandwidth/transfers. If we were making so much money why wouldn’t our competitors try and offer more and gain market share?
Well, I’ll tell you why, because it’s too darn expensive to offer the same amount of file upload “benefits” that we offer. They simply can’t/won’t afford the bandwidth and disk space required to run an operation like SizableSend.com.
Hi Admin, could you please let me know if there is a way to track the uploads I send thru your site? I tried you for the very first time yesterday (one send about 50mb) and there seems to be no way to confirm the send or any sort of tracking for receivability.
The party I sent this to received a message from you with a download field that was either blank or greyed out, did not function at all. As well your Q&A section didn’t work when I tried to send you a suggestion message….
The blank email they received was due to a bug with emails being displayed in Gmail/Yahoo. That bug is now fixed.
With respect to “tracking the file” you can do this by checking the “send me download confirmations” box during the file upload, also the file download page will display real-time statistics on how many times a file is downloaded and by how many different people.
If the service is free, where does the money come to pay your bills?

Somehow, your obfuscatory response is not credible.
But, thanks for the effort.
Really, is it that hard to believe?

Still don’t believe us? Here we made a comparison chart of Sizable Send vs. the Competition and their offerings.
